Aliide Naylor – Journalist | Author | Editor
Aliide Naylor is a journalist, author, and editor currently based in London after living in Russia for several years. Her freelance writing has been published by a variety of outlets, including the Guardian, Tortoise, POLITICO Europe, frieze magazine, New Statesman, Vice, and New Eastern Europe. She has also provided Russian-English translation services for Freedom House.
She previously worked acquiring and licensing user-generated video stories (UGC), bought and published by ABC News, CNN International, LADbible and The Washington Post – among others. Prior to that, she worked as an editor with the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), and as an editor with The Moscow Times.
Aliide specialises in writing long-form reported features. While she has extensive experience working on Russia, eastern Europe, and international affairs, she also enjoys covering technology, society and culture (and often stories that incorporate elements of all three).
Her book 'The Shadow in the East: Vladimir Putin and the New Baltic Front' was published by Bloomsbury in January 2020. Read an interview with her about it here.
